HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!
i am so happy that MAP won. tonight was the final vote of the 21st Century Fund, a program of the Community Foundation (where I work--- although, i think the only people who read this blog already know what the 21st CF is).the final vote consisted of presentations by 4 organizations. the membership (344 memberships) votes to select one recipient of the $100,000 grant.
MAP was actually runner-up for the last 21st CF grant in 2006. they do so many great, green things for the community: urban organic farming (involving youth), micro-enterprise development (contributing to a local, green economy, as well as promoting self-sufficiency), and other things you should read about on their webpage. i love everything about their programming. wish they had ~$----- to employ me.....
anyhoo.... while i really want to go into a tirade about how i don't think people understand the importance of promoting local business or doing things green, this is just supposed to be a congratulatory post. so, huzzah!

Yay! :) When I was in law school doing the Community Economic Development Clinic I visited MAP a few times. (The clinic did the legal work to get the place started) Tis a great place indeed.
Looks like a great organization. It is sad to think of all the great groups out there who could do more with this city and a little more cash!
