audrey's sewing corner

one of the many reasons i love blogs is that some of my fellow female bloggers are crafty --- and seeing their work inspires my own. dayna's most recent post is a project i'd been meaning to do but just hadn't taken up. so, i decided yesterday to make my own clothespin bag!

i'm an awful packrat, as well as sentimentalist, so as you can imagine i keep pretty much everything. i think i still have all of my corsages from high school dances. and why do i have a box full of dead, crusty, flaky, probably moldy flowers? because someday i might want to look at them. someday. might. yes, i keep everything because of the slight possibility that i might want it at some time in the next.... let's say 60 years.

so, i decided to make it out of something nostalgic, something i haven't gotten rid of because i might want to wear it someday: a hoodie with my letters.

it was pretty simple, and looks ok.
but, for me, the greatest thing is that i made something that i wanted and needed out of something that was basically waste and could have ended up recycled, resold or, worse, in a landfill. but now it's being put to very good use, while still remaining a memento of my college years!

the finished product:

hooray for blogs, inspiration, and of course the internet :)

on deck: a post about my sewing room. our upstairs neighbor is moving, so we've been buying some of their stuff. as a result, pete and i switched desk and i now have a bomb-@ss sewing room!!!!!!!
